Police are investigating the theft of a 3030 rifle froni a hut in the Mangapurua Valley, northwest of Raetihi, area over the weekend. The rifle is valued at $800. ★ ★ ★ On Friday evening a pair of skis was removed from the roof rack of a car in Turoa Village. Also, overnight on Friday and Saturday, four pairs of skis were taken from the roof of a vehicle parked outside the Mountain View Motel, Miro Street, Oha^ kune.. Skiers are advised to remove skis from their cars while dining as ski thefts are a recurring event in Ohakune. * * ★ Police were called to a motor vehicle accident Friday 1 5 August at 9.50am on the Ohakune Mountain Road, when a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Mitsubishi collided. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and one passenger of the land cruiser was admitted to Raetihi Hospital. Motorists are reminded to take care when travelling along the mountain road. ★ ★ ★ On Saturday evening a car parked in the Ohakune Hotel carpark was broken into. A radio casette player and two speakers were removed. ★ ★ ★ On I3 August, Ohakune Police arrested a 2 1 -year-old woman for the theft of a lady's handbag at the Ohakune Hotel earlier in the week. The woman appeared today in the Ohakune District Court. ★ * ★ A I6-year-old youth was arrested for the theft of a ski jacket from a motor car parked in Clyde St, Ohakune, last Wednesday. ★ ★ ★
