Taumarunui health seminar concerns Waimarino
A seminar is to be held in Taumarunu soon to look at options for the future of the Taumarunui Hospital Board. The Taumarunui board is now seen to be too small to continue in its present state and is faced with the need to join with a larger administrative body. The most likely option is to join in the Waikato Health Board but no decisions have been made yet. The seminar is to give the users of the hospital, including Waimarino people, the chance to have their say about the future of the board.
Subjects to be looked at include the following: • What is an area health board? This session will be led by Glen Garlick, chief executive officer with the Waikato Hospital Board. • What an area health board means for the Taumarunui district, the options and effects, led by Paul Malpass, medical superintendent, Taumarunui Hospital. • Community involvement in an area health board, led by Marion Clarke, principal nurse. Taihape Hospital. There will also be a panel discussion and open forum so that people can have their say. The seminar will be held
on Tuesday 19 August at Taumarunui from 5.30pm to 10pm, with a meal break at 7pm. There is no charge for the seminar but interested people should write or ring the REAP office in Taumarunui, PO Box 135, Taumarunui, telephone 8680.
