Outback adventure company offers something different plus special accommodation
Ruapehu Outback Adventures are shaping up for another great year in their fourth year of operation. In 1983 they brought white-water rafting to Ohakune, 1984 their outback adventure booking agency opened in Clyde Street Ohakune and in 1985 homestay accommodation began at their Ruapehu homestead. This year scenic horse treks are offered. The horse treks will take travellers through mountain forests and open farmland where they will see the beauty of Mt Ruapehu and the surrounding countryside. T reks will be for beginners and advanced riders and for one or two hours. Rhonda. who has a lifetime of experience with horses and with the Ruapehu region, will lead yoiir trek. Led horses suita-
ble for children are also available. Ruapehu Outback also run other activities such as jet boating along the Wanganui River, helicopter scenic flights, four-wheel drive vehicle safaris and mountain transport, whitewater rafting and this summer, canoeing trips on the Wanganui River. The Ruapehu Homestead offers accommodation in a country setting. There are 14 beds with a magnificent outlook and special personal service. The homestead is a base for outdoor adventures all year round and is especially popular with American and Australian guests although many other nationalities have also stayed. Meals are available to suit, including vegetarian, children's and birthday parties.
