How about a bucket on your head?

It's a dog's life they say, especially when a nasty vet makes you wear a bucket round your neck! Makes you look like an experimentfrom H.G. Wells' Island of Doctor Moreau, where bits of one animal

were joined onto bits of others, in places where they shouldn't have been. Lamia the 15-week old Doberman Pinscher who belongs to Debbie Perkins of Raetihi recently had an un-

fortunate little operation to shorten her tail. Unfortunately shechewed her stitches. After Raetihi vet David Seifert restitched the tail he suggested the ignominy of the bucket round the neck, to keep those sharp

teeth at bay. Lamia didn't like it at first but she has adapted well. It's quite an experience to have a playful puppy rush at you waving a bucket around instead of a head. Debbie said she had heard that some people had made comments about Lamia being ill-treated. In fact it's all for her own good. And she eats bones easily through the wide end of the bucket. So" if you see a rampant bucket running around with a dog on the other end don't worry. She loves it!
