In the early hours of Saturday morning the pie cart in Clyde Street Ohakune was broken and entered. Foodstuffs, cigarettes and a large kitchen knife were stolen. ★ ★ ★ Overnight on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July a green Falcon 500 station wagon was taken from Harris Road between Raetihi and Ohakune. The vehicle was seen in Ohakune on Sunday morning at 8am and the local traffic officer pursued it, assisted by Ohakune and Waiouru police. The vehicle was stopped south of Turangi and two males and three females were arrested. Enquiries are continuing for one other male who left the vehicle in Ohakune. ★ ★ ★ Overnight on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July the Ohakune fire station was entered and a video recorder was taken. ★ ★ ★ On Sunday 6 July between 7.30am and 2.30pm a dwelling in Matai Street Turoa Village was broken and entered. A microwave, a tape deck and a Doberman Pinscher dog were stolen. ★ ★ ★ There was a burglary on Sunday 6 or early Monday 7 July at Dalgety Crown in Seddon Street Raetihi. Fourteen drums of drench were taken, to a value of $5000. The offenders must have loaded the drums onto a vehicle in the yard at the rear of Dalgety Crown. If anyone saw a vehicle would they please contact the police. ★ ★ ★ On Tuesday 1 July between midday and 12.45pm a large red toolbox was stolen from a Holden utility parked outside the power board office in Duncan Street Raetihi. Tools worth $3000, engraved with initials C.C., were stolen. The box was too heavy for one person to lift. Anyone who saw the box being moved please contact police. ★ ★ ★ Overnight on Tuesday 1 July Farmers in Seddon Street Raetihi was broken into. Four portable radiocassettes were stolen with a value of $2000. Also taken were Leviand Bronsonjeans and Swanndri jackets. ★ ★ ★ On Saturday night the Waimarino Club was broken into and offenders took four dozen beer and a bottle of rum. ★ ★ ★ The Raukawa Falls Store 35 kms south of Raetihi on the Parapara highway was broken into on Saturday night. A 44-gallon drum of engine oil, worth $500, and assorted tools were stolen.
