21Ruapehu College masterminds
Glen Koorey from Ruapehu College is the Southern King Country finalist in this year's United Building Society Student Mastermind contest. A team of four from Ruapehu College clashed with a Taumarunui High School team at the Taumarunui High School library, to enable a finalist to be chosen. Officials at Wednesday's
programme were: quizmaster — Ms Chris Jorgensen, adjudicator — Ray Harding, regional manager for United, timekeeper — Garry Maughan, branch manager for United, scorer — Dympna Heckenlynn. Glen Koorey is a sixth former at Ruapehu College and lives in Waiouru. His interest are soccer and cricket. By topping the other com-
petitors with a score of 24 points, Glen has won a place in the regional finals of Student Mastermind, to be held in Rotorua later this month. He also won $100 for his school, and $50 for himself. All semi-finalists received a $10 certificate from United, as did several members of the audience in a 'warm-up' quick question session before the competition started.
