Smallbore club wants members
Since the very success- ' ful inter-business teams' competition held earlier this year, Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club members have been busy extending the range facilities. A great deal of hard work has been carried out on the range to increase the number of shooters who are able to shoot at the same time. That capacity, which is the result of the addition of an extra four-mound facility, has now more that doubled so that seven shooters are able to use the range at any one time. ~ With the competition season only just beginning, club
members are again making their mark in the shooting scene. Bob McGinniss won the C Grade in the Rangitikei Championships at Marton. Brian Morrissey was placed 4th in the D grade at the Levin Club Open and Roy Walker was also well placed. A couple of teams travelled to Wanganui to compete for the local association's Glaxo and Vesta Cups but were unable to repeat their successes of last year. With the additions now in use extending the number of shooters to a figure comparable with other ranges, the club would like to increase its membership.
An invitation is extended - especially to those people who had a go in the interbusiness teams' competition - to come along on club nights, Monday and Saturday, at 7pm, to see the improvements and take part in club activities. The club provides the rifles, appropriate equipment and coaching, as well as advice on firearm safety. Wear a pair of jeans or trousers with a warm winter shirt and jersey, as well as a swandri or other woollen jacket. The club would like to see more women as well as juniors (under 21) - and where are those good keen men?
