A vehicle rental outlet is now open in Ohakune. King Country Rentals as the company is known is a branch of Taumarunui's Hertz Rental Car Division, that has been in operation since December 1985. The Taumarunui company has enjoyed huge success and as a result opened its new branch in Ohakune where they felt the need was greatest. It will be managed by four

people from Taumarunui who will take it in turns to commute to Ohakune every day. The managing director and public relations officer is Grant Lethborg. Richard Mandeno is the company's secretary and Wayne Lethborg is the director. Manageress is Nancy Christie. Nancy Christie is hopeful that local people will offei their support as it was

planned to operate the facilities all year round. She stressed that is was not specifically a tourist venture and that it needed community backing if it was to get off the ground. The business has beengiven eight weeks to make good and if it doesn't then the branch will be scrapped.
