Ohakune fires

Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade attended two fires this week. On 27 June they attended a chimney fire in Lakes Road which was put out with no problems. Early on Saturday morning the brigade was called to a fire at 18 Goldfinch Street which had started underthe floor and around the chimney. Fire chief Max Martin said that although damage was minor the occupants were lucky that a passer-by had spotted the fire. Former Bulletin reporter Rosalind Donald, one ofthe occupiers, was full of praise for the brigade, who she said were careful to avoid damaging furniture.
