Congratulations to the

New-look Ohakune Hotel

Bruce & Mary would like to thank all those who have helped and 1 supported them with their new venture & the 'New Look' Ohakune Hotel

Bruce and Mary Leggatt, proprietors of the Ohakune Hotel, had double cause for celebration last night. After 18 months at the [ hotel and a great deal of hard work they have recently freeholded the [ property. Into the bargain I they have just completed an | extensive renovation and [ upgrading of the hotel. To mark the event they I presided over a big celebraI tion last night with free DB

draft at 6pm followed by a disco and hangi, and partying until closing time which was enjoyed by many of their customers. Over the last eight weeks a lot of money and effort has gone into giving the hotel a new look and providing patrons with better facilities and services. Among the changes which customers will immediately notice is the new-look dining room. The wall dividing the room has been removed

leaving a bright, open eating area which can seat up to 83 diners. An attractive aquarium of tropical fish gives a feature for the room. The restaurant can still be divided wth shutters for private functions. The reception area has been completely upgraded creating two new offices, one for guest reception and a manager's office. Guest accommodation has been lifted with new carpet

throughout and portable TVs in all rooms. A new push-button telephone system has been installed and there are now phones in all suites. A central phone is available for guests in other rooms. A central kiosk has been added in the accommodation area so that guests can make their own tea and coffee. The bars have also been upgraded with gas heating in the lounge bar, and the provision of DB Draft beer on tap, as well as the already available Rheineck and Lion Brown. The Summit Bar will be

open regularly during the ski season, and also may be used for meetings and as a conference venue by arrangement. One of the big changes is the re-vamped bottle store which is twice its former size and has a much more attractive and open layout. There will be weekly wine specials and Bruce Leggatt says that prices will be very competitive. A one-way mirror between the public bar and the bottle store will allow staff to see customers quickly and will improve service. The removal of the door between the public bar and bottle store is an added feature.

There are also new staff in reception, kitchen and bars, planter boxes outside and other behind-the-scene changes which improve the efficiency of the hotel. All in all a considerable effort has been made to ensure that customers get value for money and the best of service. Bruce and Mary Leggatt thank their customers for their support. They also thank builder Luke Albert of Karioi who, as well as reconstruction, has also done a lot of joinery, electrician Arthur Berridge from Raetihi and plumber John Mcllroy, for their great work on the hotel.
