Waiouru Lions cheque for brigade
Plunket
Local health nurse, Anne Whyte addressed the Waiouru Branch of the Plunket Society at their annual general meeting recently. Mrs Whyte spoke about the role of the health nurse in the community and the difference between the public health nurse and district nurse. Waiouru Camp social worker, Peter Bright spoke to members about his involvement with groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and the Cancer Society, as well as his role as marriage counsellor. Kevin Hicks is the branch president and his wife Wendy, treasurer. Gabriella Tipene was elected secretary and Michelle Woon vice president. Sue Bourne is the group's car seat rental organiser. Mrs Wendy Hicks said that Plunket needs public support in order to purchase more car baby seats for infants aged zero to six months old. In OTder to raise money Plunket has organised a children's disco night for July. This will be held on Friday 4 July between 5.00pm and 7.30pm, the cover charge being $ 1 .50 for each child and parents free.
