Wood fires efficient
Wood is a major source of heat energy in New Zealand and is a fuel which has a great potential for future growth, according to the general manager of Kent Heating Ltd, Mr John Fletcher. He says the spiralling cost of other fuels coupled with major advances in wood heating appliance technology will have a most significant impact on the market place.
Kent believe the introduction of new combustion heaters with efficiency levels of over 80 per cent, coupled with total burn control, has changed wood from a second-class heat source to one which is well on the way to becoming the prime source in many homes. Kent's New Zealand designed and manufactured wood-burning heaters enjoy great popularity in New Zealand and many overseas markets. In the U.S.A. the
Kent Tile Fire has recently been certified by the Department of Environmental Quality in Oregon, so recognising its compliance with the State's strict clean air standard„. Running costs have been shown to be far lower than for other forms of heating. They are about one-sixth those of an open fire, and, on average, one third those of oil heaters and electrical resistance heaters.
