Fun day for horse riders

An open fun day for horse riders was held on 11 May at Fraser's airstrip. The event was open to anyone who wanted to ride in games and novelty events and ages ranged from 2x/i to 50+. The riders included pony club children, farmers and joy riders. The highlight of the day must have been Mr Dave Hagley and Gary Scorringe coming off in the pairs rescue and providing entertainment for everyone. The novelty event was a combination of jumping and walking over stones and through tyres, ending in a rope jump. The rope was gamely held by Gavin Sutton and George Crighton who risked rope burn. As we were sorry for some of our slower adult riders it was decided to have a consolation prize in the barrel race. Jeff Morris was slowest and won the bottle of sparkling grape juice. It is hoped that another open day will be held on 29 June and that more farmers and others interested in a fun day for the whole family. Any enquiries to Mrs Rosaleen Morris or Mary Saywell.
