Accountant at BNZ is first in the job
Errol Perrett is used to living under a mountain. Before shifting to Ohakune recently he lived in New Plymouth, close to Mt Egmont. He is the new accountant at Ohakune's Bank of New Zealand. This is a new position in the bank created because of the increased business in Ohakune. It's also a promotion for Errol. He has travelled widely with the bank, living in
Hunterville, Sydney and Hawera as well as New Plymouth. His new job involves supervisory work, administration and "extensive checking." There are more staff employed at the bank now than ever before, as the town of Ohakune grows. His wife Susan and their two young boys have shifted with him into a banksupplied house, and they've been spending much of their time unpacking and moving in, Susan and Errol haven't had much time to get around the region yet but they went to the Army Museiim and took the kids up the Mountain Road for a look. Errol did not get around to climbing Egmont while he lived there but always meant to. He's not sure if he will ever make it up Mt Ruapehu either. "Not if there 's always snow on it," he said. He used to play cricket, basketball and squash, and
now enjoys spending time with his kids in the weekends. What does he think of Ohakune so far?
"It's a lot busier than I thought it would be. And I always thought carrots were just carrots. Carrots here are much sweeter!"
