Chaplain for Waikune Prison
Prison Chaplain Alf Taylor was officially commissioned at the Waikune Prison Chapel recently. The chapel was full and was attended by Ed Boyd, senior prison chaplain from Wellington. Alf Taylor has been with the prison for three months now, spending two or so days a week there working with inmates and wardens. The rest of his week is taken up with his Baptist Ministry in Taumarunui. "1 feel the staff and inmates need the presence of Jesus," he says of his work ministering at the prison. "A chaplain needs to have compassion, a listening ear, and be ablejo get alongside people. I pray and ask God that I may have those qualities."
