Raetihi and Ohakune Police assisted by the Taihape CIB and a dog handler from Wanganui made two drugs-related arrests in Rangataua on Friday. Police executed search warrants at three Rangataua addresses. A 21-year-old man was arrested by Raetihi Police and charged with possession of cannabis for supply. He will appear in the Ohakune District Court on 23 May. At the same address, a Rangataua man in his early 20s was arrested by Ohakune Police for possession of instruments for offence under misuse of drugs act. He will appear in court on 23 May. * * * A large amount of drugs were taken from Price's Raetihi Pharmacy at about 2.30am on Friday. The offenders smashed the front window of the shop and took about half a large rubbish bag of assorted drugs, said Raetihi Police Constable Trevor Pullen. Most of the drugs were later found on the side of the road in Old Station Road, Ohakune. Pain killers were kept by the offenders. ★ ★ ★ On Saturday afternoon Raetihi and Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade attended an accident on State Highway 49 after a vehicle's rear tyre blew out and the driver lost control. The vehicle, which was travelling towards Ohakune, ended on its side about one kilometre west of Rangataua.
