Boutique's first birthday
Gwen Doble of Ragtime in Ohakune celebrated her flrst year in the boutique last week. She has had a great year, particularly because of the support from the local people.
"I'm very appreciative of the support I have had. You have a.nice relationship with your customers in a town like this," she said. Work in the store has been more involved than she expected with buying stock and paperwork, but she has found it very stimulating.
Gwen decided to buy the^ store a year ago because sheg wanted to do something— different, and she felt time whs running out. She believes she will have every confidence in the shop for years to come. She said the economic climate has not really affected her trade.
gL/Gwen has a good range of --clothing from ethnic to upmarket garments, and some good-quality cheaper labels. Unusual knick-knacks in the shop include Indian jewellery, paua shell jewellery, Oroton handbags and jewellery and hand-crafted pottery
pots containing cream perfume. Gwen is at present preparing for the fashion parade tomorrow night at King?s Court. Funds from the parade will go to Ohakune Primary School. This is the second time Gwen has been involved
with the King's Court parade. She also provides garments for a parade at Christmas, along with other local shops. Gwen is working towards providing a wider range of largersizeclothes. However, she is finding that these are quite hard to come by.
