How to build log houses
The national coordinator of the New Zealand Log Builders' Association, Angus McCallum, recently visited the Waimarino. He was here to meet local log builders and to encourage their efforts to build log houses. "This part of the country is ideal for log buildings and while I am here I will be helping to set up a 10-day "hands-on" log building skills course to be held at the end of May," he said.
The course is to be held in Mangaweka on the property of Tom Kemper, a partner in Rangitikei River Adventures, beginning on Sunday 25 May and ending Wednesday 4 June. The 12 vacancies on the course are expected to fill
quickly. Anyone interested should apply immediately to Tom Kemper, Main Road, Mangaweka, phone 747. The instructor is John Gosling from Masterton, a log builder trained in Canada.
