State of Waiouru playgrounds concerns
Anne Bradley of Waiouru is trying to get people together to upgrade the playgrounds in Bullot and Brooke Streets, Waiouru. Much of the equipment in the grounds is in need of repair and dangerous for children. Mrs Bradley approached the Waiouru Community Advisory Committee about the problem and she has been asked to form a committee. The Brooke Street playground is next to a railway line and although the line may be quite safe at the camp, Mrs Bradley > said children should not be taught that all railway lines are safe. She would like to see a fence between the ground and railway. Although the seats of swings in the Brooke Street playground have been repaired, children are unable to use them because of pools of water, she said. The Bullot Street playground has equipment which is also in need of repair. Mrs Bradley is leaving the area shortly and hopes to start a comittee which will be responsible for making sure the grounds are maintained.
