The Bell Jet ranger helicopter, belonging to Wanganui Aero Work Ltd, flew an injured tramper from a hut on the Matemateaonga Track on Saturday. The woman, Mrs June Lough, of Auckland, injured her ankle and was flown to Waimarino Hospital. She was examined by the local doctor but was not admitted. The Matemateaonga Track is about 20 km north of Pipiriki. ★ ★ ★ A vehicle taken from the Ohakune Club on Saturday night, was recovered later in the evening at the caravan park on Raetihi Road, Ohakune. Ohakune Police Constable John Fraser said the vehicle was not damaged and had been taken for a joy-ride. ★ ★ ★ The Taihape C1B arrested a Kakatahi man last week after members of the public helped the police. The man was charged with several rural thefts committed over Easter weekend. Police had asked if anyone had seen a chocolatecoloured van with a tealblue roof. Ohakune Police Sergeant Neil Coker said he was pleased at the good response. ★ ★ ★ Raetihi Police arrested- a 30-year-old Raetihi man on Wednesday 9 April for the theft of a bicycle. The man allegedly borrowed a bike and sold it on Wednesday. He wiU be appearing in the Ohakune District Court on 1 May. ★ ★ ★ Also on Wednesday, Ohakune and Raetihi police arrested two Raetihi men for the theft of a motor car. The car was stolen from Tehora, between Stratford and Ohura, on Saturday 5 April and was recovered in Raetihi. The men will be appearing in the Ohakune District j Court on 1 May. ★ ★ ★ A 10-speed bicycle has been handed in to Raetihi' police and they would like to j return it to its owner.
