Orautoha hall and school fund-raising
A monster jumble sale is to be held at Orautoha Hall on 3 May to raise funds for much needed new seats for the hall and for equipment for Orautoha School. Secretary of the Orautoha Hall Committee, Nicky Williams, said anything and everything will be sold at the sale. Anyone can sell goods, but a commission will be taken for items sold. A light lunch will be provided, and details of the sale will be advertised in next week's Bulletin. The tiny village of Orautoha is northwest of Raetihi, close to picturesque Ruatiti Domain. The present seats in the Orautoha Hall seem to be about 100 years old, said Mrs Williams, so there is a great need for replacement. The hall is much used by the community for meetings, family get-togethers, and by the local school for concerts and as a gym. Orautoha School is next to the hall and also needs funds to buy new sports equipment. The school will be hosting the Ruapehu schools' crosscountry race in early May and the school's netball team is now in training for the season. With 24 pupils at the school, they have been allocated a full-time teacher's aide, Robyn Olds of Orautoha. She previously worked part time at the school: Orautoha School pupils will be taking part in a YMCA camp at Raukawa Falls later this month, along with Ngamatea and Rangataua Schools.
