Livestock broking firm appoints local rep as goat specialist

Local goat farmer Diane Pritt has been appointed Ohakune livestock representative for Australasian Livestock Brokers Ltd, based in Rotorua. The firm was established earlier this year to provide specialised expertise in the goat and deer industries. Representative of the firm, Graham Vercoe, said that accurate information on goats and deer was hard to get and the appointment of 1 5 specialist agents round the country would help to fill this gap. Ms Pritt said the A.L.B. would not themselves buy

and sell goats but would act as an agent. If someone has goats to sell she will find them a buyer and arrange for them to get together. The company also organises embryo transplants and artificial insemination for goats. The company is wholly New Zealand owned. Principal director Ian Pirani has been responsible for importing most of the major goat herds brought into New Zealand recently. His philosophy is that if agriculture is to get back to profitability it must diversify and market its products effectively.
