Trophy presented to winning team
The Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club made the presentation of awards to the various business teams which had competed in the recent shoot, at an informal ceremony in the Raetihi Hotel last Wednesday evening. A total of 22 teams of f our took part — a total of 88 marksmen and markswomen — in what proved to be a popular contest conducted in a friendly and relaxed manner over a period of two weeks. Each shooter paid $4 to enter the competition and this covered not only the cost of ammunition used but also ensured that each team got a prize ranging from a Golden Kiwi ticket to the
. very impressive looking trophy. Club president, Bob McGinnis, when making the presentations, welcomed the twenty or so guests at the hotel saying: "Only the top teams are here tonight... apart from the Ohakune Post Office!" The winning team was from Winstone's Afforestation who scored 3 1 8.4 out of a possible 400.40. Team members were Shaun Harvey, Tony Donghi, Craig Walker and Shane Harvey.
