Ohakune Kapai Bookshop and Rendezvous Dairy in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune, were both broken into during the early hours of Saturday morning. Ohakune Police Sergeant Neil Coker said the burglary probably took place between 2am and 4am. Cigarettes were taken from the dairy and items of jewellery from the bookshop. ★ ★ ★ Ohakune Police attended an incident on a hairpin bend on the Ohakune Mountain Road on Thursday afternoon. The accident happened when a Bedford truck and a Nissan motor car collided. Fortunately both vehicles managed to stay on the road and the occupants of the car were un-injured. Bill Hurlstone of Hurlstone Earthmoving was
driving the Nissan vehicle and the occupants of the truck were two residents of Waiouru. The Nissan received extensive damage to its left front and the truck had structural damage to the rear. ★ ★ ★ A movie projector and other property were taken from a Miro Street house some time over the last three weeks. The owner of the house had been on holiday for three weeks. ★ ★ ★ Petrol was taken from a utility vehicle parked in the Railways Corporation yards at Ohakune last Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The vehicle was not used for a day so the exact night of the theft. could not be established. Raetihi Raetihi Police attended a disturbance at the Raetihi Hotel on Wednesday 12 March when a window at the hotel was broken. Later on, another window was broken at the Raetihi Royal Theatre. Raetihi Police later spoke to a man who was admitted to Raetihi Hospital and treated for injuries to his arm.
