DIVING

Four Raetihi divers competed in the National Swimming Championships in Hamilton at the weekend. Sherilyn Condon, Karyn Phillips and Cheryl Hinana competed in the 13- and 14year old section and Wayne Te Huia had his last year in the 12- and under section. Wayne won the gold med-

al in the one-metre diving event by half a point but missed out on the gold in the three metre event by two points, taking the silver medal. Sherilyn did not start off well, coming ninth out of nine in the three-metre event. However she dived well in the one-metre coming fourth out of 13. Karyn Phillips came fifth out of nine competitors in the three-metre dive and ninth out of 13 in the onemetre event. Cheryl Hinana, in the three-metre event, came seventh out of nine and eighth out of 13 in the one-metre event.
