Big day for river schools

They swam, sang and enjoyed a huge feast put on by the people of Ranana, a tiny village on v the Wanganui River. It was the Wanganui River Schoors swimming sports day, but because of poor weather only senior students from the three schools of Pipiriki, Ranana and Parikino competed. However the rest of the day was spent with a lively cultural exchange of items between the schools. While the guest schools ate their lunch, the children of Ranana performed Maori action songs. The river school athletics day will be held at Parikino School on Wednesday 26 March.
