Twiligh gala big success

Despite dreadful weather during the day the Raetihi School twilight gala held last week was a resounding success. From sausage sizzle to hangi, from lucky dips to quick fire raffles, and many, many other stalls run by pupil, teacher and parent, everyone had a good time and valuable funds were raised for the school. The principal, Mr Geoff Lovegrove, said that between $2800 and $3000 had been raised which was remarkable considering the weather. He said the turnout of support from parents and supporters of the school from beyond school families was excellent. "I have never seen a school gala before where there has been such a great joint effort by teachers and parents as here," he said. The money raised will be put towards a fund to buy a video system for the school.
