Ohakune Pony Club treks through forest

There were seven members on the Ohakune Pony Club's trek in the last week of January. They included Evelyn Cooper, Heather Cooper, Mark Evans, Rebecca Gibson, Nicola Gibson, Fiona Evans, Tracy Gibson and Connie Cooper, the baby who helped keep us awake all night. We travelled on the forestry road to Mangaeturoa North Road where we stayed

in a forestry house. There was a dam not far from the house where we took the horses swimming. We rode along old farm tracks which went into gullies and led on to metal forestry roads. There was a really neat view. It was a good trek. The Pony Club is grateful for the help of Craig Walker, wildlife ranger for Winstone Afforestation Ltd.
