Ohakune garden club competition decided

The Ohakune Garden Club held their annual garden competition recently and it was judged in two stages. The spring judging took place in October 1985 and the summer judging in February 1986. All gardens were judged on general layout, maintenance, flowers and shrubs, and the competition was open to all garden enthusiasts within the Ohakune borough.

Because of the increasing number of new gardens it was decided to run it in two categories, 'established' and 'new' which enabled gardeners just starting to develop their sections to enter and feel they would have some chance in comparison to established gardens. The results for 1985-86 were: Established — 1st K. George, 2nd E. Martin. New — 1st C. Hitchcock, 2nd M. Francis. The club looks forward to seeing your garden entered in October 1986.
