Blacksmith and human relations REAP courses
Two REAP courses which are to take place soon in Taihape may interest Waimarino residents. An introduction to blacksmithing will be held at Taihape Engineering Ltd on 1 5 March tutored by Steve Bradley, a blacksmith of nine years. The course will include operating a forge, forge welding and basic wrought iron work, but will not include farriering. A chisel and tongs will be made from beginning to end at the course and materials will be available at wholesale prices. Personal growth groups for both men and women will be held soon in the Taihape REAP office. A women's course led by Paddy Partridge, a Wellington psychotherapist trained in Ndw Zealand and California, will be held over the weekend Friday night to Sunday afternoon 14-16 March. She will use approaches from psychodrama, transac-
tional analysis (T.A.) and bio-energetics. A similar weekend for men is planned for 1 9 and 20 April led by Les Gray, a registered psychologist who works as a counsellor in Whangarei, and who has had wide experience in running growth groups for men. His interests are men's issues, particularly assertiveness and dealing with anger. Participants in both courses are asked to bring a lunch to share and to enrol at REAP office, Box 86, Taihape, phone 109 collect from Raetihi and Ohakune. Fees may be negotiated through REAP community education organisers.
