Courses to help farmers and families get through
Meetings and seminars may be set up in the Waimarino to help rural communities through the present period of change and adjustment — if the rural community asks for it. The Agriculture Training Council, MAF, Federated Farmers and Fruitgrowers' Federation are supporting the proposed programmes. Doug Bennett, president of the Waimarino branch of Federated Farmers, asked farmers at a recent meeting to request programmes. He said topics could be in such areas as stress management and budgeting. The aim is to motivate the farmer and his family to take positive action to manage the changing situation to their best advantage and to develop local support networks.
