The 75th A and P Show — something for everyone
The 75th A and P Show. We must rate as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, organisations in the Waimarino District, and the format has not changed a great deal. The cows, horses and gigs may have gone but the people are the same, only in modern contraptions. For the children this year's features include a pets parade at 12.30pm in front of the grandstand, with prizes and ribbons, pet lamb and gardening competitions and side shows. For the public we have our local machinery displays, a comprehensive Army display, the produce shed, Turoa Tumblers and weight guessing with a little difference. For the energetic there is a Tug-o-war with good prize money. For the farmers we have goats, sheep, gift lambs — just look at the prize money and ring Alf Alabaster if you would like yours picked up.
With nine entries in the Premiere Beef last year we are hoping it will be even better this year and of course there will be a feast of horse and pony events. For the stalwarts and supporters there is to be a barbecue tea with twilight dancing on the grass grub!
