Acting-head at college

Ian Meredith, deputy principal of Ruapehu College since 1979, is acting-principal of the college until a new principal is appointed, possibly at the end of the first term. When Mr Meredith came

to the college in 1978 as senior master he was no stranger to the school as he was a high school student there. Since he left the school as a pupil, he has taught at Hutt Valley Memorial College, Hauraki College and prior to teaching at Ruapehu, at Rangitikei College. Mr Meredith was trained in physical education but last year taught economic studies and science. While he is acting-principal it is unlikely he will teach unless required. He believes taking on the role of principal is a challenge for him and he is looking forward to it. Mr Meredith and his wife, Dorothy live in Ohakune.
