Fitness triathlon here soon

A nation-wide health and fitness campaign knownas Live Life: Be Active, will be coming through Ohakune early in the New Year. Live Life: Be Active is a triathlon-type relay from Bluff to Cape Reinga which aims to encourage New Zealanders to put more physical activities into their lives to improve their physical and mental health. Two well-known triathletes, David Gerrard and Arthur Klap, will run, cycle, swim and canoe the length of New Zealand, accompanied by their families, between December 27 to January 12. Along the way all sorts of health and fitness activities will be promoted to turn the event into a travelling health circus with the emphasis on fun and family. The team will be running and cycling along the Parapara Road from Wanganui on January 5 arriving at the Ohakune Ranger Station at 5.00pm, where they will then take a bush walk into the Mangawhero Forest. The following morning the team will cycle from Ohakune to the Outdoor Pursuits Centre between National Park and Turangi where instructors will take them through the centre's ropes course. Why not get out and meet the Live Life: Be Active team when they are in our area and give them some support.
