Waiouru prizegiving
All the 456 pupils at Waiouru Primary School performed items at their prizegiving on Friday. Chairman of the school committee, Captain Tom Abbott, attended the prizegiving, and six teachers from the school were farewelled. Cherie Arlidge, at the school for three years, is leaving along with Olwyn Jones, Carolyn Morris, Josie Rosendaal, Charlotte Otene and Belle Seymour. Pupils who received general awards for holding a duty of responsibility throughout the year were: Bell: Helen Otene, Geraldine Timu. Library: Sheryl Mateara, Evon Wilson, Leesa Kingi, Rachael Abbott. Mail: Tane Rogers. Science monitors: Todd Duncan, Neville Smith. Art monitors: John Staines, Dion Gray. Round the Mountain certificates: A. Lester, K. Herewini, R. Otene, H. Otene, L. Robinson, S. O'Connor, S. Scobie, L. Hodd, D. Te Miha, G. Timu. Road patrol certificates: Heidi Fenton, Karla Cooney, Neville Smith, Christabel Laracy, Rebecca Comer, Christine Barnett, Elizabeth Martin, Stephanie Herewini, Robert Edmunson, Daniel Kinzett, Wendy Sadler, Tracey Thompson, John Staines, Roanne Millar, Phillip Dodson, Rangi Seymour. Wanganui Savings Bank Cup for all-round excellence: winner Tane Rogers, merit Sheryl Mataera, Geraldine Timu. Interhouse competition: lstNgauruhoe, 2nd "equal Ruapehu and Taranaki, 4th Tongariro. Attendance: full attendance 11, excellent attendance 65.
