A generous community thanked

Dear Sir, Through your columns I would like to express the thanks of my family and myself for the generous support the community has given Patrick in his bid to attend the World Championships for Disabled Skiers in Sweden in April 1986. This support is even more overwhelming following, as it does, the Waimarino Helicopter Rescue Trust Appeal which commenced a few weeks before Patrick's

selection to the team. Patrick has been working hard to raise the rrioney himself principally by haymaking and his sponsored bicycle ride. The amount raised purely as a result of the ride is a little hard to estimate accurately as some donations would have come in anyway, however the sum taken from his sponsorship forms is $1046.50. Other grants, donations and major sponsorships

amount for $5490, which with his own savings and earnings assures he will soon be on his way, although still short of his original target. At present he is working near Kaiwaka and on his way through Auckland last week booked his flight to the US A and on to Frankfurt as it is easier to reach Sweden from Frankfurt than London. He also has an open return ticket. He leaves Auckland at midnight on Thursday February 6th 1986. After the championships he will go to England to stay with my sister and find ajob

tor the summer to hnance about two months ski training at Mt Tremblant in Canada before returning home in early 1987. If this does not work out he will return home earlier. All this travelling and skiing on different ski fields will be a tremendous and rewarding experience. Please accept this as a personal thank you if anyone has not been thanked personally or by letter. A caring community is a community to be treasured. Thank vou.
