Raetihi School prizegiving ceremony
Raetihi School principal, Geoff Lovegrove told parents he expects more support from them next year. He was speaking at the school's prizegiving, where parents and friends packed into the hall decorated in the Christmas spirit. Mr Lovegrove, who has been at Raetihi for a term, said he was very impressed with many of the things going on in the school, however, he was not impressed with some of the pupils. "I am appalled at a small group who seem to be out to destroy everything that is good — their poor attitude will not be tolerated next year," he said. He said he was not asking ■ the parents to help, but telling them to. "I don't expect miracles but I do expect support from the parents of the school," he said. Mr Lovegrove emphasised that he was speaking only of a small minority and that most pupils and parents were very cooperative. He also asked that parents help the school committee. "Please support them when they call for help, thev're volunteers and do need the support." A presentation was made to Margaret Cole who had organised school lunches for the past eight years. Mr Lovegrove thanked teachers who were leaving.
including long-term relievers Colleen Boswell and Kerry Irwin, and Carol Dean, head of the infant department, who has leave of absence for a year. Mr Lovegrove thanked Mira Crowley, who was acting principal through the end of 1984 and thefirst two terms this year, for help and guidance.
