PROMOTIONS OFFICE OPENS The new Taumarunui and Districts Promotions Office will be officially opened on Saturday 14 December beginning at 11.15am. The office will be opened by Tongariro MP Noel Scott who will preside over a ceremony of cutting into the building with a cross-cut handsaw. The promotions office is run by the Taumarunui and District Promotion and Development Association. SANTA CLAUS ARRIVES Santa Claus will discard his trusty team of reindeer on Saturday when he will be brought to Taumarunui on a jet boat due to arrive at 10am. He will be met at the Pioneer terminal by the Promotions' Association and will be taken to Manuaute Street where he will stay until shortly after midday. From there Santa will travel on his float to the domain where a helicopter will pick him up. Once in the 'chopper' Santa will drop about 1000 ping pong balls some of which will have spot prizes donated by the retailers of Taumarunui. Next Monday, a lucky shopper promotion will begin with the promise of two $500 cash draws.
