Both Raetihi and Ohakune police report a quiet week with no major incidents of crime. Raetih Police Constable Trevor Pullen arrested and charged two Ohakune men in relation to the shotgun blasts at the Taihape Vet Club rooms in Seddon Street, Raetihi, on Thursday 14 November. They will be appearing in the Ohakune District Court on 19 December.
★ ★ ★ During the week two houses were unlawfully broken into in Rangataua. On Monday, a microwave oven was taken from a house and on Wednesday a cassette stereo system was taken. Both incidents occurred during the day. ★ ★ ★ Boxes of money in the kitchen area of the Ohakune Camping ground were broken open over the weekend and the money taken, reported Constable John Fraser of the Ohakune Police. ★ ★ ★ John Mcllroy Ltd, a plumbing business in Miro Street, Ohakune was broken into over the weekend. Burglars gained entry through the sliding doors and prised open the safe and . a money box in the safe, but there was no money inside. Damage was done to a barbecue but nothing was taken from the shop.
