College works for the community
Ruapehu College students said 'thank you' to the local community for support during the year in a way which has become an annual event. Third and fourth form students of the college worked all day Thursday helping the elderly, working with local firms and doing general community work. Out of 220 students, 200 found their own jobs, and many offers had to be turned down. Students' work included picking up rubbish around Ohakune, delivering civil defence pamphlets for the borough, helping out at pensioners' houses, and working in workshops and service stations. The demand was so high for the helpers that a group of students will be working this Wednesday cleaning Turoa Skifield, as there was too much work last week.
