Siggy Bauer 3rd in ultrathon
Siggy Bauer fought hard to match Yiannis Kouros in the final 100km stage of the Wellington- Auckland ultrathon on Friday. Although Siggy had no show of heading off Kouros in overall running time he matched his pace from Huntly until Manurewa
when, encouraged by members of the Greek community, Kouros ran away and finished 45 minutes ahead. Siggy was second in the stage and for a while it seemed that he might have slipped into second place overall, but Richard Tout finally made it, still 50 minutes ahead of Siggy in overall time.
