Te Amoroa Nikora dies, aged 100
Te Amoroa Nikora, aged 100 years, died at Waimarino Hospital on 23 October and her tangi was held at the Raetihi Marae on 26 October. Mrs Nikora lived in Raetihi many years ago but left and lived most of her life at Lake Rotoaira. She returned to Raetihi just six weeks ago to be nursed by Judy and Henry Haitana. Henry was Mrs Nikora's ereat-ereat-
grand nephew. Over 300 people, from Whangaehu and Turangi as well as locally, attended the tangi. Mrs Nikora was married to the late Mikaera Nikora, and though they had no children they had many nieces and nephews. Mrs Haitana said that Mrs Nikora always assisted
people whenever she could and helped at many maraes. Mrs Nikora's mother came from Whangaehu and her father, whose name was Ronginui, lived in Raetihi. After the tangi at Raetihi a service was held at the Papakai Marae, Lake Rotoaira, and later she was buried in the family burial ground at Papakai.
