Raetihi chemists change over

Raetihi's new chemist — Lynette Price from Tokoroa — began work last week. Lynette bought the shop from D'arcy Newson, who has owned it since he and his wife Anne cariie to the area in 1977. The shop's name will be changed from Newsons Pharmacy to Prices Raetihi Pharmacy. Lynette's husband, Gary, looks after their 2 >/2 and 1 V2 year-old daughters and will sometimes work in the shop. This is the first pharmacy they have owned. Previously Lynette managed a Tokoroa urgent pharmacy and has done. relieving work in Dunedin, wh„ere she went to university. Lynette and Gary looked ,

all over the North Island before they decided to purchase the Raetihi shop. "We wanted to live in a small town and there's everything we want here," said Lynette. Gary is a skier and plays rugby, they both enjoy squash and Lynette also makes handcrafts. D'arcy and Anne will be moving to their bachjust out of Turangi and using that as a base to look around and decide where to make their next step. At this stage D'arcy savs they are thinking about ' Bay of Plenty as their ne home as he enjoys sea fis! ing and wants to grov orchids, which are hard cultivate in this climate.

He will do relieving work for chemists but is not likely to buy another shop. D'arcy says he has had a great time in Raetihi and doesn't regret moving to the area at all. D'arcy was club captain of the Waimarino Squash Club and his efforts there were appreciated. "His thorough efforts were very much appreciated by the club in his organisation of the leagues and the various club tournaments and club nights," said the mayor of Raetihi, Garrick Workman. D'arcy has played a vital role in the Raetihi Businessmen's Association in the promotion of Raetihi as a shopping centre and town, said Mayor Workman.
