D'arcy and Anne farewelled

Close to 100 people gathered at the Waimarino Squash Club in Raetihi on Saturday night to farewell D'arcy and Anne Newson. The two, who have lived in Raetihi for the past 13 years, were presented with a canteen of cutlery by the squash club. Gifts also came from the. Raetihi Tennis Club and the Businessmen's Association as tokens of their appreciation for the couple's contribution to the community. Squash club president, Marty McGrath, said D'arcy would be missed at the club. "For the past year he has been our club captain and has done a tremendous job — we will miss him, and Anne, and wish them every

success in the future," he said. Mayor of Raetihi, Gary Workman, thanked D'arcy on behalf of the town's businessmen. D'arcy and Anne have sold their pharmacy in Seddon Street to Lynette and Grant Price who will be in charge from Monday 4th November. The Newsons will shortly be moving to Taupo where they have a holiday home. The Bulletin acknowledges the support it has had from D'arcy. Publisher John Sandford, who through work commitments was unable to attend the farewell, said that without regular advertisers like D'arcy, the Bulletin would be unable to produce a newspaper for the community every week.
