Waiouru TV woes turn rosy

Waiouru TV viewers could be excused for thinking they had gone colour blind last week, when all the hues drained out of TV2 and they were left with a monochrome picture, or worse, no picture at all. Fortunately it was simply a technical hiccup which has now been corrected. Eric Bodell, technical officer at the TVNZ district transmission base at Whariti near Woodville, said a faulty translator in the Waiouru area was the culprit. The translator, near a recreation area one kilometre north of Waiouru, receives TV2 from Whariti and retransmits the signals for Waiouru viewers on channel 9. Mr Bodell said that other viewing problems at this time of the year were sometimes caused by electric storms.
