Successful Ruapehu College ball

Ruapehu College's first ever ball was held Saturday 19 October and the theme was the 1920s. Principal of the college, Michael Warbrick told the school assembly on Monday, that the ball set a standard for similar future events. Nearly all of the 128 students, teachers and their partners dressed in 1920s style. The school ball committee, along with teacher Sue Allomes and members of the community, decorated the hall with a gazebo, which served as a bar for non- , alcoholic punch, a fountain and a waterfall, and used many pungas and ferns to create an outdoor patio scene. The band, Khamal from Wanganui, entertained, and pupils showed off their ballroom dancing skills, which they had learned at a crash course the day before! Supper was prepared by the Waimarino Plunket Society and fourth form pupils. Mrs Allomes said that the local community had been extremely helpful and supportive in preparations for the ball.
