Club rugby champions 1985

Three new trophies were donated to the Ohakune Karioi Rugby Club for presentation at the

prizegiving held in its Clubrooms at Rochfort Park on Saturday night. One of them, donated by President Ron McDougall, was awarded to John

Kennedy for showing the best club spirit both on and off the field. The other two trophies, given to the club by Bill and Barbara. Harding, were for the highest points scorer of

the season and the players' player of the year. Lachlan Harding and Joe Herewini were the inaugral recipients of these awards. The prizegiving included a disco run by Charles Mareikura and was attended by over a hurtdred people. Guest of honour was the president of the Wanganui Rugby Union, Arch Roebuck, and his wife Esme. Other prizewinners were: Seniors Most promisingforward, Richard Matthews; Best player on and off field, Andrew Donald; Best forward, Bruce Cranston; Most improved back, Brendon Wilson; Most efficient player, Steve Gordon; Best club supporter, Dennis and Wai Brown. Senior Reserves Most outstanding forward, D. Mclntosh: Most outstanding back, Rhys Mudgway; Most outstanding player on and off field, Cyril Wise; Best supporter, Beth Jane.
