NAME FOR NEW COUNCIL
It is Waimarino County District Council all the way, if the 24 people who sent replies to our request for district council name suggestions have anything to do with it. Twenty-two of those who replied favoured Waimarino as the name, while one suggested Ruapehu and the other 'Ruamarino'. Raetihi Borough Council and Waimarino County Council have already expressed their preference for Waimarino and it only remains for the Ohakune Borough Council to confirm the decision at this week's council meeting.
