Two vehicles collided and overturned on Parapara Road, 16 kilometres south of Raetihi, on Sunday afternoon. The occupants of one of the vehicles, a Nissan King cab were uninjured, but the occupants of a Morris Minor utility, who live in Raetihi, were taken to Wanganui Base Hospital. The driver of the ute was cut free from the vehicle by Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade members. The driver had suspected fractured arm and ribs. ★ ★ ★ Tony John Pickery, 18, formerly of Raetihi, and Jason Dwaine Lilly, 1 5, who had escaped from the Manawatu Youth Institution, were seen at the sale yards in Seddon Street, Raetihi, at midday on Wednesday and were apprehended after a short chase. The were taken back to the institution and will be appearing in the Palmerston North District Court this Thursday. ★ ★ ★ A Ford Falcon utility was unlawfully taken in Raetihi in the early hours of Thursday morning. The vehicle was later found south of the Raukawa Falls Store, Kakatahi, crashed into bush. An 18-year-old Raetihi youth was arrested on Friday night and charged with the theft of a motor vehicle. He will be appearing in the Ohakune District Court on 24 October. ★ ★ ★ A window was smashed and a stereo taken out of a vehicle in Reynolds Motors, Ohakune, over the weekend. ★ ★ ★ A garage was forced open and eight wheels taken off two cars at the Catholic Presbytery in Ohakune over the weekend. Both cars belonged to fathers and sisters of the Presbytery.
