'Daffodils'
To the unknown Rangatauan who picked our daffodils (with apologies to Wordsworth). Fair daffodils we weep to see You haste away so soon, As yet, when we returned to ski — All gone, save one small bloom. Near a lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze; Continuous joy for all did shine —
Rudely plucked whilst in their prime.
